Venue

Because of its central location in Europe, along many major transportation corridors, and proximity to the Baltic Sea, Poland represents one of the continent’s largest countries. Polish commerce, economy, and foreign relations benefit from these conditions.

Poland’s cultural legacy dates from when the amber route passed across its territory eleven centuries ago. The impressive WieliczkaIPS Salt Mine, the historic Gdansk shipyard, and Copernicus’ medieval city of Torun are just a few of the many wonders of Poland. Poland is a multicultural nation with a wide range of attractions. Everything is available here, including an alpine terrain, expansive beaches, clear lakes, dense woods, and historic sites of the highest caliber. Even picky visitors will be pleasantly pleased.

Poland is an amazing country that deserves more than just a quick trip.

3 DOMES IN ONE PLACE

The IPS conference is an event organized by planetarians for planetarians, focusing on everything planetarium-related. That is why IPS2016 will occur under the dome… and under more than one! Our Heavens of Copernicus facility has 140 seats and cannot accommodate additional projection equipment. For the duration of the conference, we plan to set up two extra domes, 19 and 20 m in diameter. These will be “negative pressure domes” (geodesic domes) with top-quality membranes. The domes will be equipped with air-conditioning, a floor, and comfortable seating, in other words, everything necessary to ensure an excellent viewing experience. These domes will be set up in prestigious locations in the Discovery Park, the grounds that form part of the Copernicus Science Centre.

Copernicus Science CenterThis will help make IPS2016 a unique opportunity to watch and compare many projection systems. Moreover, we hope it will also inspire your day-to-day work, as we intend for many of the presentations and talks to be given in the dome facilities themselves.

DOME VILLAGE & BOOTHS

During IPS 2016, we are also planning to launch a Dome Village, as it garnered so many positive reviews in IPS 2012. But we want to take things a step further and utilize it as a place for sponsors to make commercial presentations of the latest products. To make the venue more interesting, interactive workshops using the state-of-the-art software and equipment assembled there. You can meet the exhibitors at the stands and talk with all the sponsors during coffee breaks and other mini-events – what do you say about a speed-dating session with sponsors?
